Geordy Zodidat Alexis
A hybridization of my European manners and my American, Guadeloupe, Caribbean and African culture. This blend of rich, artistic language that I developed uses the influence of dances, music, history of art and world cultures. Through various mediums I project how I dread reality. The installation, performance, painting and drawing, to name them, are part of an active processes that involves spirituality, identity, the critical eye over history and politics. While reading Nations Negro Culture and Cheik Anta Diop a few years ago, the inspiration grew in me. I then slowly began to understand that art was not exclusive to the region. Inspired by among others, Toguo, Jimmy Durham and Sebastiao Salgado, my work tends to be a sounding board for our journey on Earth.
