Through the physical layering of form and color I compose my work primarily using receipts (found, my own, or from staged collections) as the establishing groundwork for each collage. Using the discards of everyday life, my work calls attention to our social systems. Recent work comes on the heels of several series beginning after the 2008 financial crisis focusing on the economy and currently to women in/as the economy. When I visit my home town in southern Vermont I bring my paints and head right to the fields for direct contact with all that I love. Plein air painting brings heat, cold, wind, rain, insects and forever changing light, and my brushes strive to keep up.
