Statement

Using the discards of everyday life, my work calls attention to our existing social systems. Recent work comes on the heels of several series beginning after the 2008 financial crisis turning the lense on the economy and currently to women in/as the economy- working to pull aside layers of perception and to draw out a new perspective that may patiently wait there.  Through the physical layering of form and color I compose my collage work primarily using receipts (found, my own, or staged collections) as the establishing groundwork of each piece.

Liza Cassidy works from her Gowanus studio in Brooklyn NY. She exhibits primarily in Southern Vermont and NYC and participates annually in the Gowanus Open Studios tour.
