GEORGE BARECCA has been drawing since kindergarten, where he made a drawing of one of his classmates. He practiced drawing throughout his formative years when George began college. There he was introduced to color and began painting. He started with abstraction but decided the best way to improve his technical prowess was by painting representationally. He believed this presented him an accurate guide with which to measure his development. He also focused on the way color portrays light. Many of his dynamically balanced compositions use multiples as a matrix to illustrate the relationship of opposites. For example, the individual vs. the communal and randomness vs. order. Another goal in his work is to express the void. He believes this may be accomplished through tone and atmosphere, hinting at the eternal reality underlying the flux. Lofty ideas from simple subjects. As he has stated, “It is the job of the artist to render the ordinary sublime”.

Schools: Ramapo College of New Jersey, New York School of Visual Arts, Art Students League of New York
I received my BA in Fine Arts from Ramapo College of New Jersey with a concentration in painting where I studied under Robert Bero and Joanna Pousette-Dart.
My work can be found in the collections of both individuals and corporations. A solo show, sponsored by one of my patrons, was mounted at Milshire, in TriBeCa NYC. I had a relationship with Revolution Lounge, in Hell’s Kitchen, where I rotated my work monthly for two years running, selling works regularly to customers and several works directly to the owner. I have had relationships with several interior decorators, who placed my works with a variety of private collectors and to whom I sold several pieces directly for their own personal collections.
