My practice is used for scrutinising thoughts, feelings, dreams and incidents. These works are individual in their inceptions, but intend to convey collective implications when arranged. Although consideration and scrutiny occur when I am working; this process is becoming increasingly instinctual – a feature which has an increasing underlining influence. The expectation is to allow myself the opportunity to work intuitively, within each given circumstance, and thus allow the spectator the prospect of conceiving the exhibits in a comparable manner. In doing so, I recognise the task is to develop my practice through a process of researched experimentations and integrations.
Writing and theoretical research is fundamental to my work. Initial recent thematic and critical concerns of note that have been a catalyst for my work are societal and ideological conditioning, or socialisation. At the centre of these projects, the landscape - equally, the natural and cultivated environments - have taken prominence.
My work is principally photographic and camera-centric. I also utilise video, installation assemblages and have introduced lighting and audio elements. In addition, I have worked on photo documentaries, portraiture, print making, drawing and various montage pieces.
I currently live and work in the south east of England.
