ARTIST: STEVEN CLIPPINGER MFA
Born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Steve has a B.S. in Art Education from Ball State University and a Master of Fine Arts Degree from Rochester Institute of Technology. While an Associate Professor of Art and Department Chairman at Daemen College in Buffalo, New York, he was named to Outstanding Educators in America in 1975.
Moving to Fort Lauderdale in 1976, the Artist established a Studio and Gallery. For many years he was included in Harmon's Distinguished Major Florida Artists Exhibition in Sarasota. In Broward County he was a finalist for the Moretti Artistic Achievement Award and was selected for Public Art Collections at the Main Library, Southern Regional Courthouse and the Port Everglades Administration Building. His honors and awards were numerous and include The 46th Annual Exhibition of Contemporary American Painters in Palm Beach, Florida and a featured artist in the1988 Saks Fifth Avenue Salute to Florida Artists, Fort Lauderdale. In 1993 his work was accepted in the Ohio University Museum of American Art Permanent Collection in Athens, Ohio.
In the late 80's the canvas of Clippinger's life drew him to the mountains of Eastern Tennessee where he directed his creativity to landscaping, farming, and horses. There he served as the Hawkins County representative for the Tennessee Cultural Advisory Board.
The next chapter brought him to The Palm Beaches where he had a new studio and continued his love affair with paint. In the spring of 2007 Steve moved to California and opened Steven's Studio in the Palm Springs Art District. In February 2008 he established the Showcase 5 Gallery and studio in this dynamic community of artists and galleries. In 2009 he closed the Gallery and in 2010 opened a new and larger studio in Palm Springs on East Sunny Dunes. The studio is open by appointment only.
Clippinger's work is included in private collections in the United States, South America and Europe. Several other honors include: past president, Phi Delta National Art Honorary; Kappa Delta Phi National Education Honorary; past chairman New York State Art Teachers Association-Western. Presently serving on the Cathedral City, CA Public Arts Commission. (term expires 2013)
