Statement

My artistic vision becomes realized when ideas from contemporary design, sculpture, and crafts are combined into installation and mixed media formats. Creativity is cultivated utilizing a search for identity and self-discovery. Ideas that express my concept of identity are informed by material inquiry, process, interactions with others, travel, and ideas from our culture. Each work explores personal history, nostalgia, and cultural connotations within a highly personal and impulsive narrative.

New works are derived from everyday life in an autobiographical manner, sometimes involving an effort to achieve a high seriousness, while at other times exploring an irreverent, not so serious, tongue-in-cheek aesthetic.  Sometimes the first impulse is erotic innuendo; at other times an archetypal dilemma is the work’s impetus. Most importantly I want each work to have the ability to be interpreted differently by many different people, just as I reflect upon what the works may reveal to me as time passes.
