I saw David Wojnarowicz’s Fire in My Belly, 1987, the day before it was pulled from the exhibition "Hide/Seek" at the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C. According to the Royal Academy, seafaring was in John Singer Sargent's blood and he "tested the boundaries of marine art". It is with this claim that the Academy has set up Sargent's relationship with the sea.
