Lawrence Upton is a multi-disciplinary solo and collaborative artist, curator and arts researcher based in the South of London.
He has made text-sound compositions with John Levack Drever since 2004 and works also with Benedict Taylor (viola) and Tina Krekels (saxophone).
He is researching and practising multi-voice and polyvocal writing with Tina Bass. (See his book Memory Fictions)
He is making book works and films with Guy Begbie. Last year the two were exhibited at Center for the Arts, Buffalo, USA; Scottish Poetry Library; and Royal Scottish Academy, Edinburgh amongst other venues.
Their second duo exhibition, Collaborative Bookworks, is at Sheppard Library, University of Middlesex 3 - 21 September 2012.
Upton has a solo exhibition, Unsettling Scores, 20 – 27 September 2012 at St James, Hatcham in New Cross Gate, South London, where he will also give a concert of his sound works on 26th September 2012 with Drever, Krekels and Taylor
