Artist's Statement:

For me art is a matter of simplification, selection, distortion and suggestion of the things we see in the world around us. I am most attracted to painters who tell as little as possible, but still manage to tell us as much as we need to know. I try to achieve this mixture of description and simplicity in my paintings.

I admire the emotion of the German expressionists, the shimmering light of Bonnard, the joyful forms of Matisse, and the simplicity of Milton Avery and Alex Katz.

I am currently working in acrylic on canvas. In the past I have also done various kinds of printmaking including: lithography, etching, silkscreen, photosilkscreen, woodblock and monotypes.

Education:

I have been painting and drawing all of my life. Some of the places where I have studied art or participated in workshops include:

  2. School of Visual Arts, NY
  3. The Art Student’s League, NY

  5. Laney College, Oakland
