Alexandra Ross

ALEXANDRA ROSS is a visual artist currently based in Johannesburg, South Africa.
She had her first solo show in 2007, which was a site-specific photographic installation. Since then, she has had two more solos (2009 and 2011) and taken part in a number of group shows. She has completed two artists residencies, one in South Africa (2008) and the other in Sylt, Germany (2010) and received her Masters degree in Fine Art (2008). She is currently working on a new body of 'Polaroid' paintings.
Broadly, her work deals with transience, change and ambiguity. It explores the relationships between reality and illusion, between original and copy, and it seeks to evoke the ephemeral nature of being. She works in painting, photography, installation, drawing and printmaking.
