Statement

Stephanie Cristello was born in Toronto, ON, and is a curator and critic based in Chicago, IL. She graduated from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago with a dual degree Bachelor of Fine Arts in Advanced Painting with a Liberal Arts Thesis. She presented her thesis "Consider This A Forecast: Simulations of the Weather Within the Contemporary Museum," in the Modern Wing of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2012. Her writing has been published in various national and international publications, including a catalogue essay "Unweaving the Circuit: Robin Kang" for the NEW. NEW YORK. exhibition at the ESSL Museum in Vienna. Her curatorial work includes Severe Style at the LeRoy Neiman Center Gallery, NEW WORK at the Sullivan Galleries, and FRACTAL SEMBLANCE at Roots & Culture Contemporary Art Center.

Prior to her position here as Senior Editor for Chicago, Toronto, and Santa Fe, Stephanie was a Staff Writer for ArtSlant. She also serves as the Chicago Contributor for New American Paintings, and Editor in Chief for THE SEEN, Chicago's International Online Journal of Contemporary & Modern Art.
