Throughout my career I have obsessively worked around the concept of the vestige both as the presence of an absence and as the physical manifestation of decay and impermanence. Understood as a mark, imprint or gesture, the vestige has taken the place of a scar, an absence, and more recently, the presence of the nonexistent. Consequently, an interest in visual subtlety combined with direct action has been symptomatic of my work, varying in degree and focus according to idea, materials or medium.
