Statement

An award-winning fine-art photographer with an abiding reverence for America’s distinct beauty, Craig Varjabedian has spent nearly four decades immersing himself in its landscapes and cultures, making images that eloquently express his discoveries in light and form. Through explorations that have pulled him out into windswept Arizona canyon country, taken him to the meeting houses of New Mexico’s enigmatic Penitente brotherhood, and inspired him to linger in abandoned Montana towns, Craig’s intuitive process draws on a deep sense of gratitude to create photographs that honor these regions and consider the importance of connection to place.
