Agata Lulkowska

Film and Media Studies, MA
Film Direction
I was born in south Poland, and from a very young age I was involved in creative life.
My first interest was paining, writing and theatre. I completed two years of acting course and I took paining and drawing classes in order to enter the Academy of Arts. I then changed my mind just before the exams and I got into Film and Television School of Silesian University to study Film Direction.
During that time I was also strongly involved in theatre life, highly inspired by rich traditions of Polish theatre.
During my Film and Media Studies at the Jagiellonian University, I started experimenting with photography, which then became my great passion and full time profession.
After completing Masters Degree in film and Media Studies at Jagiellonian University, I moved to London in 2004, where I had my first installation exhibition based on photography - "Almost like Home'.
I continued working with photographic medium and soon after I started the Digital Media Arts Course at London south Bank University, which I finished with First Class Honours. My degree work was again an installation based on photography - "Closer", where I explored the way we look at body today.
In my multimedia and interactive work I pursue mainly two subjects - sexuality & carnality and Latin America, which is my great and deep passion.
Having written several short stories, I am currently working on a new project, exploring the re-interpretation of seven sins in contemporary life in big cities like London, where I continues living, in between my frequent escapades to Latin America.
In early 2011 some of my photos has been published in the "Best of Worldwide Photography Artists" book, I also had an entry in the "International Dictionary of Artists'.
In October 2011 I start my photogrpahic research in Institute of Iberial and Latin American Studies, Birkbeck, University of London.
