Statement

Arthur Bruso is an artist, curator, writer, arts administrator and co-founder of Curious Matter. He received his MFA from the University of Pennsylvania, and his BS in Art Education from the State University of New York at New Paltz. He is listed in Who’s Who in America and Who’s Who in American Art and is a member of the American Association of Museums. He is a guest speaker on arrange of arts topics, including engagements at the Jersey City Museum, and a discussion of  ‘art world realities’ with MFA students at his alma mater, the University of Pennsylvania. He has been regularly featured on WMBC-TV.

Bruso began his career as an assistant at the Institute of Contemporary Art in Philadelphia. Following his move to New York, he went on to serve on the board of All Out Arts in New York City, a not-for-profit, 501c3 arts organization. As Exhibitions Director of All Out Arts’ partner, ArtGroup, Bruso curated trail-blazing exhibitions devoted to greater awareness of under-represented, older, self-taught, and sexual minority artists. During his tenure with ArtGroup Bruso successfully partnered with other NPOs to develop joint exhibitions: Borough of Manhattan Community College, Clemente Soto Velez Cultural Center, Hudson Guild, 24 Hours for Life, and the Leslie Lohman Art Foundation among them.

As a visual artist Bruso has participated in numerous solo and group shows including exhibitions at Albany Institute of History and Art, LaMamma, NYC, Visual Arts Center of New Jersey and Rice Gallery.
