Statement

My name is Shelly Kay.

I am a New Yorker, living in Manhattan, and as my stream will tell you, am completely in love with New York City.

I am a writer, working on my first novel, but photography is a real passion of mine. I never leave the house without my camera. I have never had any formal training in Photography, but cannot imagine not taking pictures. Ever.

I am what my pictures say I am. With me, what you see is what you get and then some.

Purging emotions through my camera lens is therapeutic for me. It brings me a sense of peace, no matter how brief.

I love to capture city life, raw and real, as well as my own inner flaws.

I am personally glad I have not had any training and am self -taught, because for me, it's just about looking around you, and then there it is. That moment, when you see and you know you just have to click your camera, because what you just captured will tell a thousand different stories, to a thousand different people.
