Bio Brief

Deborah Singletary is a contemporary urban folk artist whose artwork has appeared in The New Yorker and New Woman and magazines, The New York Daily News and Painting from the Source, (HarperCollins), Making What Your Means Can’t Buy (Vision Carriers) and Art’s Buoyant Felicity: An Anthology—Art/Creativity/Healing (Evolutionary Girls). She was included in Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture’s major show, “Black New York Artists of the 20th Century” and in the Caribbean Cultural Center, New York City's an Wearing Spirit: Aesthetically Personifying the Feminine in African Sacred Traditions. In addition to her exhibiti on career, Deborah facilitates make-art workshops for adults who want to make art but fear they don’t have any talent.  Deborah’s work as an interfaith minister encompasses her passion for art—both art and the ministry can pierce the veil that separates us from our true selves.
