Sam Kirk

A painter, sculptor, and freelance interior designer that works with materials including but not limited to canvas, wood, steel, glass and an AK-47. If Sam can get her hands on it, she’ll work with just about anything. Born and raised in Chicago, she has roots that stretch deep into the earth of Mexico and Puerto Rico with little bits of Ellis Island on the side. She is self-taught with an entrepreneurial spirit. Trained but unruly. Messy but precise. Quiet but captivating.

Through her work Sam Kirk is always trying to push limits, challenge conventions and create an involuntary reaction in her audience. Bringing to the forefront people, places and things that are easily ignored or habitually forgotten. Recently featured as aChicago Artist of the Month she’s just wrapped up a custom artwork and art management project for Viper Alley, a new music venue in Lincolnshire, IL. Through the Hearts-A-Bluhm Project, two of her custom-made hearts found homes; one for NBC and the other with Abbott Labs Duane and Susan Burnham Professorship.
