I was born and grew up in Boron, a tiny town in the California Mojave Desert. I dabbled with photography as a teenager but I didn't get serious about it until 1993. Photography gave meaning to my life at a time when I felt worthless. It eventually allowed me to attend the San Francisco Art Institute. Once at SFAI I explored several different mediums including painting, film and digital art. I graduated in 1998 with a BFA in Interdisciplinary Arts.
I'm currently working in photography again. I like to compare the way I'm making art right now to automatic writing. I when I shoot a photo I usually don't understand why I was drawn to make the image. It's not until later that I realize why I made it.
