S.D. Myers was born in New York City in 1977. He currently lives and works in Galena, Illinois. He received a BA in Art from Muhlenberg College, Allentown, Pennsylvania, in 1999 and his MFA in New Genres from the San Francisco Art Institute in 2003. He also attended the prestigous Goldsmiths College in London, England, where he practiced full-time studio art as a part of his undergraduate studies.

Myers’ body of work ranges from single and multi-channel video works and performance to large-scale installations. His multimedia work has been exhibited internationally in venues that include the GenArt's New Media Exhibition in San Francisco, the Unge Kunstneres Samfung Gallery in Oslo, Norway, the Berliner Kunstsalon in Berlin, Germany, and the 8th Havana Biennial in Cuba. Most recently, his video art piece titled Corridor Two was awarded “Honorable Mention- Best in Show” in "Between Image and Personality", an international video art exhibition at the Moscow Museum of Modern Art in Russia. In addition, his award-winning short film Manifest has screened in multiple festivals in 2013, including the Mashrome Film Festival at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Rome, Italy, the Salon International de La Luz in Bogota, Colombia, and was a competition selection for best short at the 2013 Palm Beach International Film Festival. His work has also been recognized in national and international art publications including Art Nexus Magazine and Artist Magazine- Tawain.

Myers, known for being an outspoken and in-your-face San Francisco based performance artist in the early 2000's, has reemerged in the midwest with a calmer and quieter aesthetic. He's self proclaims himself a recluse, living in the Illinois countryside with his two great danes and his wife, Jessie Rebik, a photorealist painter. They both teach art at small liberal art colleges in Dubuque, IA.
