  Perhaps the most interesting aspect of this artist's work lies in the careful lining up of edges upon each layer of acrylic sheet. He uses several layers of acrylic sheet and paints on them in oil. The paint/image on a proceeding sheet lines up perfectly with each successive layer. This creates, ultimately a sense of time, a changing of the seasons, if you will. "From Above"- a solo exhibition showcasing the work of Merrill Steiger at Allen Gallery in Chelsea, comes highly recommended. Anyone mildly interested in Aerials, vibrant colors or abstract forms would be enamored by Steiger's vast, sprawling canvasses, which are intricate and bursting with a wide spectrum of color.
