I see robust visuals in common surroundings that provide impetus for my work. Using my own photographic images, I rip, paint, transfer, remove, repaint, smash, reposition and collage to create personal landscapes. Although I start with an idea, each work becomes it’s own personal dialogue. Abstract upon first examination, there is an occasional surprise of an identifiable image peeking through that has some personal significance. I continue to explore the use of mixed media on unconventional shapes and in unconventional arrangements but also work on stretched canvas. I use both current and vintage photo images with encaustic to preserve dear memories.
