Ashley Middleton is a visual artist working in a range of media that includes photography, installation, and video. With an interest in visualizing the micro relations between the ego, the individual, and the collective, Middleton explores the evolution of social connectivity in the age of rapid technological advancement. Her work engages in the territory between virtual and physical space - as well as the embodiment of those territories - paying particular attention to how identities are formed in and through the language of new and old media. Founded in sociological research, Middleton’s projects are the visual aftermath of personal curiosities and experimentations. She has an M.F.A. from Parsons School of Design and an M.A. from Goldsmiths, University of London. Middleton has showcased her work at Photoville in New York, Pingyao International Photography Festival in China, and Auckland Festival of Photography in New Zealand.
