Foundation and concept of Gallery Proarta
Gallery Proarta Ltd was founded in April 1989 by the art historian Mrs Roxana Malmberg Pirovano. The opening exhibition showed original paintings from Sonia Delaunay. Since then, numerous exhibitions with the "classic moderns" like Serge Poliakoff, Gérard Schneider, Jean Arp, Alexander Calder, Joan Miro and Sam Francis followed. A monographic catalogue was published for most of the shows. The Proarta edition consists today of 20 catalogues. Beside the classic moderns, Gallery Proarta represents various young as well as established contemporary artists.
The gallery is located in the heart of the business district of Zurich, 5 minutes walking distance from the Paradeplatz and Bahnhofstrasse (the Main Street).
The gallery space of more than 300 sq.m., is divided in 4 show rooms on two levels with three big shop-windows on the famous Bleicherweg.
