DESCRIPTION

Located at 30 kilometres from Turin, in the Canavese valley, the Castle of Rivara was the historical residence of the painters of the  Scuola di Rivara. Surrounded by a 45.000 square meter park, its complex is made up of  three independent buildings: a medioeval castle built around 1300 a.D., a neo-baroque villa redesigned in 1871 and its stables  built  in the same period.

In 1985 Franz Paludetto, now Director of Castello di Rivara, transformed the castle into a Center for Contemporary Art. Today the total surface available for exhibitions is 2530 sq.m.
Since 1985 Franz Paludetto organized important national and international one-person shows  and  group shows curated by Italian and international Art Critics. The activity of Castello di Rivara as a Center for Contemporary Art has been documented in a series of catalogues  about the most important exhibitions.
