DESCRIPTION

Shaw’s paintings represent an exploration of Nominal Realism, a concept she has developed based on a locus that connects two points of figuration and abstraction. Painted in oil or acrylic, Moving Violations are variations on this theme focusing on color and the push/pull within the picture plane. The two bodies, Trucks and Taxi, come together in the peculiar American fascination with the road, perhaps representing a macho swagger of the ultimate dream of freedom.
