DESCRIPTION
"Unpolished," an exhibition of feminist work by Phoenix artists. In 2007, galleries and museums across the country undertook a major reexamination of feminist art with exhibitions like MOCA LA's "Wack: Art and the Feminist Revolution" and "Global Feminisms" at the Brooklyn Museum. These major exhibitions demonstrated that the feminist art movement is among the most influential developments in post-war art, and furthermore that it has undergone continual development since its inception in the1960's. What is the legacy of this tradition for local living artists? What does feminist art look like in the 21st century? These are questions our artists answered for this exhibition. We invite you all to attend.
