Born Out of Necessity
Russian Artist Vladimir Arkhipov works with objets-trouvés having a distinctive difference from all previous ready-mades in art history. His art objects belong to people who have created them because „one cannot find anything like this in the shops“. An on-going project running for 15 years all over the world received wide recognition and is described in hugely popular book „„Home-Made: Contemporary Russian Folk Artifacts“
The artist does not appropriate the authorship. He elevates the creations to the status of art and then dutifully returns them to the owners.
The Gallery invited Vladimir Arkhipov to Switzerland to try and find artobjects in the Swiss milieu.
We are happy to announce that the project proved to be successful and the artist discovered 40 objects during 2 weeks of his stay in the country.
The object-trouvés will be displayed during the exhibition to the vernissage of which we cordially invite you.
Artist Vladimir Arkhipov, co-author of the visual environment, will be presented in the gallery from 01 to 28 October 2009.
Upcoming book: one of the leading Russian philosophers Valery Podoroga and internationally renown curator Viktor Misiano wrote articles on the artist’s project that will be included into the book to be published by the Gallery.
