Silverstein Properties is pleased to present Miljan Suknovic: New Paintings, a suite of eight new works on display in the lobby of 7 World Trade Center in New York City. For his largest paintings to date, Suknovic takes advantage of the architectural space with large-scale abstract surfaces filled with radiant color and deliberate linearity. A private reception for the artist will be held on Tuesday, September 24th from 7-9pm.

New York-based artist Suknovic is known for his non-representational paintings, translates on canvas satiny underpaint assaulted by intense colored geometric lines that show a unique understanding of spatial relationships and movement. Using a vibrant palette ranging from bold bright colors to deep shades of red and black backgrounds, the planes separate compressing color to a thin chromatic line which is directed by intuition or the pictorial surface. The monochromatic field is traversed with schemes that repeat or vary with colors, ricocheting stripes, dashes and neon circuit looking blips.

Miljan Suknovic studied art and architecture in Belgrade and Prague, graduated in 2005 from Accademia di Belle Arti in Florence, Italy and earned a DAAD Scholarship in Hamburg, Germany. His work has been exhibited in solo and group shows in galleries in France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Serbia and the United States. His first solo show in America was held at the Union Gallery New York in 2008. He has also created large-scale mural paintings in Florence and Bologna. He has been living and working in New York since 2007.

Access to the exhibition at 7 World Trade Center must be organized in advance with Carrie Mackin.
