DESCRIPTION

Y Arts and the Boll Family YMCA have a brand new and exciting community partner. You may or may not have noticed a red figure popping up on the roofs of many downtown buildings. This fedora clad man of steel stands silently atop Detroit buildings keeping watch over our fair city. The figure is part of the Man in the City art installation – the brain child of gifted local artist John Sauve.

These Man in the City figures are to be installed for a period of two years while fundraisers are held to support arts programming for Detroit youth. One of the new recipients of the program’s generosity is Y Arts, specifically our Summer Media Institute. A dedication and benefit event has been scheduled for Friday, June 14th. The event, On the Roof with the Man in the City, will take place in a most appropriate location – on the roof of the Detroit Opera House. The VIP portion of the event begins at 5pm, with the general admission portion of the evening immediately following at 6pm. VIP tickets are $50, and general admission tickets are $30. Tickets are available at the Detroit Opera House box office or online at www.michiganopera.org.
