"Michael St. Amand's paintings awaken our senses to profound truths concerning our world and our place in it." ~ Robert P. Metzger, Ph.D.
St. Amand’s paintings affect the space in which they hang. His use of multi-layered raw, vibrant color, mixed media and fluorescent pigments put the viewer on the spot. His paintings vibrate with energy and light causing the art to interact with the audience; they feel where the energy from one source is going to another source, and one color moving to another color. The artwork reflects brilliant bursts of color back at the viewer. The artist’s paintings change as ones physical relationship to them changes. St. Amand’s paintings give the viewer a sense of the artwork changing in front of a viewer’s eyes.
St. Amand was invited by the Georgian Minister of Culture for the "Punctum Contra Punctum" group exhibition at the Georgian National Museum, Tbilisi in 2012. The artist’s Mundata Sonata 8 was selected for the cover and article in Visual ARTBEAT Magazine #8 in 2012 and was a featured artist for the magazine in 2013 (issue #11). Other recent accomplishments include being selected for the 4-man art exhibition "All Male Review" at the Watson Macrae Gallery on Sanibel, Florida; a CBS sponsored billboard featuring his paintings for the 2013 Superbowl; and has exhibited work in Los Angeles and Berlin this year.
Michael St. Amand has earned numerous awards for his work. The artist has been listed in Art in America Magazine’s Who’s Who in American Art. He has exhibited his art nationally and internationally, including Paris, Bordeaux, New York City, The Republic of Georgia, Germany, Dallas, New Zealand, Washington, D.C., Art Basel Miami to name a few.
