New Publisher's Corner with Nieves Books
A selection of artist's books and zines that were published by Nieves will be on view at the Kunsthalle this march. The Zurich-based publishing house was founded in 2001 by Benjamin Sommerhalder. It has become well-known for finely produced artists books and zines - usually booklets of smaller formats, of which three a month are published in close collaboration with the artists.
In Baden-Baden, there will be publications on display by i.a. painters Rita Ackermann and Nathalie du Pasquier, by Berlin-based artist Erik Steinbrecher as well as French painter Jonas Delaborde who co-publishes the magazine "Nazi-Knife". A number of the artists' books and zines that you will encounter at the Kunsthalle comprise of a selected personal drawings and collages, like for example the publication Chronicles Vol.2 by Kim Gordon. Early on, Nieves has published books in cllaboration with protagonists of the international skateboarding and underground scene, e.g. Jocko Weyland or the Hamburg-based artist Stefan Marx.
