Chang Dai-chien in California and Paul Hau
The short film “Chang Dai-chien in California,” produced by SF State’s DocFilm Institute, makes its public American premiere. It features restored and re-edited footage of the master painter from 1967, shot by art historian Michael Sullivan. A discussion will follow, as well as a presentation by 96-year-old artist Paul Hau, whose work is featured in the SF State Fine Arts Gallery show “The Moment for Ink” and was a friend of Dai-chien. Hau’s presentation will be in Mandarin with English translation.
This event is part of “The Moment for Ink,” an exhibition of historical and contemporary ink painting in America co-organized by the SF State Fine Arts Gallery and CCCArts of the Chinese Culture Foundation, in association with the Asian Art Museum and Silicon Valley Asian Art Center.
