DESCRIPTION

Yiannis Koutsouris presents an entirely new painting work, as a dialogue between the past and the future, the reality and the non-existent. The artist –one of the pioneers of cartoon animation in Greece- pays tribute to his love which now finds its place in his painting, with which he deals exclusively the last years.
A world full of strange creatures that teeter to places of fantasy and make contact with us in a way that can be sarcastic, funny or even serious but above all honest. Birds, animals, insects, fish transformed into colorful beings, flirting with extravagance and transformation. Perhaps these characters are witnessing a magical modern era that its dazzling beauty sometimes looks fake and illusory.

A few words about the artist:
Yiannis Koutsouris studied at the School ATI (Doxiadis) and with teachers: A. Tassos, A. Asteriadis, H. Dekoulakos, C. Georgiadis, S. Lydakis, while for three years he was a student and assistant of Spyros Vassiliou.
Until the end of the 60’s, he was working on painting, caricature and illustration for magazines and children’s books, while his main activity for almost thirty years was to create cartoons for the companies “Kounoupi” and “Kouak”. From his creative career so far he has gained numerous distinctions and three first prizes.
