DESCRIPTION

This annual fundraising event, which supports the mission of the gallery, offers a wide selection of art for all levels of collecting, with works by over 100 artists including invited guest artists Willie Cole and Michael Eade.

Glen Guarino is one of the artists juried into Art Connections 8. He will show "Simplicity" in Art Connections 8 at George Segal Gallery.  This well-known gallery is on the campus of Montclair State University in Montclair, New Jersey.  Now in its eighth year, the exhibit features works by local, regional and nationally acclaimed artists.  The show will be open from January 18 through February 19, 2012.  Artist Reception is January 23 from 2:00 to 5:00 PM.  For directions please visit http://www.montclair.edu/welcome/directions.html

"Simplicity" made in American Black highlights the beautiful aspects of a single board of Cherry. In this board were several areas with burr sections that he chose to cut out, slice and then book match producing a pleasant focal point highlighting the beauty of the wood.  As with many of his pieces, Guarino chose to do a clear hand rubbed finish to allow the beauty of the woods to take center stage.

Guarino enjoys designing and making furniture for corporate and private clients.  He exhibits frequently in juried gallery exhibits and museums.  Guarino has been honored as a "Signature Artist" at the Noyes Museum of Art as an exemplar of the highest caliber of artistic standards.  His work has been published in Lark Studio Series: Tables, Wood Art Today 2, 500 Cabinets, Fine Woodworking Magazine, Woodshop News, New Jersey Savvy Living just to name a few.  He has also been interviewed on radio and cable television.
