DESCRIPTION

This exhibition celebrates the watercolor medium as practiced by American artists. Featuring work from the Arkansas Arts Center permanent collection, the show includes the artists Alexander Calder, William Dunlap, Betty Parsons, Philip Pearlstein, Joseph Stella, Dorthea Tanning and Abraham Walkowitz.

The exhibition explores the breadth of the watercolor medium from the late 19th century to the present. These works show a variety of content from landscape to abstraction in watercolor, gouache and tempera on paper. The exhibition also shows the particular aims of painters working in these challenging media.
