Vanity Fair - Fashion Photography from the F.C. Gundlach Collection
F.C. Gundlach is something of contemporary renaissance character: a legendary fashion photographer, collector, curator and initiator of a foundation, he never understood fashion photography as being concerned solely with beautiful appearances. He perceived it, also, as a tool for analysing social relations and civilisation’s forms of expression. “Fashion photographs are always interpretations and mise-en-scènes. They reflect and visualise the zeitgeist of the present and anticipate the one of tomorrow.” Kunsthalle Wien presents the Gundlach Collection with works by, among others, Richard Avedon, Sibylle Bergemann, Guy Bourdin, Horst P. Horst, David Lachapelle, Leon Levinstein and Regina Relang.
