DESCRIPTION

Ingrid Mayrhofer is a visual artist, curator and community arts practitioner. Born and raised in Austria, she received her arts education at York University and has worked and exhibited in Canada and abroad. The Puzzle comprises six drypoint prints, each depicting a child, a toy, an animal and a landscape. The simple toys - cart, swing, slingshot, boat, rim and top - are timeless, and are among the many hand-made play things that continue to defy commodification.

“My own childhood memories, of assembling fairy tale picture blocks, and reading stories under a tree, inspired me to create this series of prints[.]”
