“Vinyl: an entertainment medium that has avoided extinction…interest from younger listeners is what convinced music industry executives that vinyl has staying power” - NY Times Dec 2009
Medium Vinyl is an annual event at Hardware Gallery.
For the second year we are staging an indoor vinyl market and Vinyl art Exhibition titled Medium: Vinyl. The callout to artists went out in 2009 and now we have amassed 150 artists who have made an artwork on 12” vinyl records.
Medium: Vinyl  Exhibition
150 artists painting on Vinyl Records.
150 artists will have works in this show. We have had entries from Germany, Italy, the USA. Every state and territory in Australia is represented. Artists have gone in every direction – some have painted, some have experimented with the record and others have used the record for inspiration.
Opening night
Opening night is Friday 21st May from 6-10pm. Four hours of DJs playing only vinyl as we officially open the Medium: Vinyl exhibition.
Neil Hume – DCM, Hellfire, Cauldron, Blackmarket, Arq

Indoor vinyl market
As with last year, we are converting part of the gallery into an indoor vinyl market. Crates and crates of used vinyl records will be available for sale, market style - Hardware Gallery is bringing out several thousand extra records for it, plus there will be records from other shops,  collectors, record labels and DJs. Turntables will be set up in the gallery for the duration of the show providing an aural backdrop to the exhibition. Extra listening stations will also be in place for buyers and browsers to listen with. Hardware Gallery will have a stand at The Glebe Record Fair in April in the leadup to Medium:Vinyl.
