For his photographs\, Christopher Rauschenberg takes inspiration from his daily life and extensive travels. A recent journey to St. Petersburg gave rise to Museum\, a series of photographs that capture arresting and absurd moments in the still reverence of museum settings. Rauschenberg creates unexpected juxtapositions of the unaltered e veryday\, captured glances that illustrate wit and beauty that is often ove rlooked. His quietly scintillating compositions draw the viewer into an env ironment that allows for greater investigation and contemplation.
Based in Portland\, Oregon\, Rauschenberg was educated at The Evergree n State College in Olympia\, Washington. Rauschenberg has been exceptionall y active in the Northwest arts community.  He taught for many years at Mary lhurst College in Lake Oswego\, Oregon. Thirty-five years ago he co-founded and is the current co-curator and Board Chairman of Portland’s non-profit Blue Sky Gallery.  He also co-founded and is a current member of Portland c o-op Nine Gallery. His work has been exhibited at the Griffin Museum of Pho tography (Winchester\, MA)\, Chicago Cultural Center (Chicago\, IL)\, Inter national Center of Photography (New York\, NY)\, and the George Eastman Hou se (Rochester\, NY)\, among others.
