This installation drawn primarily from the Museum’s collecti on brings together works in all media from disparate periods to explore the mes and ideas that drive an artist’s creative process. Sections will be dev oted to thematic associations including abstraction\, minimalism\, and the figure. Historical and literal associations such as the use of text\, the c onstruction of typologies\, and the tradition of Vanitas will structure oth er groupings. Works from the collection that have never before been seen wi ll be installed alongside a number of recent acquisitions to focus a new le ns on ways of discovering the collection. 


Variations on Theme: Contemporary Art 1950s–Present is organized by the Dallas Museum of Art .
