This is 5 Questions. Each week, we send five questions to an artist featured in Under the Radar, our weekly email highlighting the best art on the ArtSlant network. This week we seek answers from Jorge Mansilla.
What are you trying to communicate with your work?
Mutations and magic, surrealism and playfulness, matters of the psyche and things that we deny or don't talk about like death.

What is an artist’s responsibility?
To register their times, to amaze, to promote lateral thinking and resourcefulness, ultimately to utilize art as a hammer and chisel to mold and shape society.
Art forms are just survival tools that unlock new ideas and/or solutions.
Show us the greatest thing you ever made (art or not)?
This video is called The Genderator. It’s a collaboration with DOP Sissy Reyes under the name Purple Moustacho.
Tell us about a work you want to make but never will:
Not sure if I never will, but it's a short film about two mutants/aliens, that can only travel through portals that open on specific coordinates, at specific times, through dance routines.

Who are three artists we should know but probably don’t?
I am so lucky to have these artists as my friends. I admire their work so I thought I’d share it with you all.
