We are very pleased to announce our panel of jurors for Round 2 of the ArtSlant Prize 2015!
Cara Zimmerman is an Associate Vice President and Specialist in Folk and Outsider Art at Christie's. She has edited and written for catalogues published by the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Ackland Art Museum at UNC Chapel Hill, San Jose State University, and the University of Delaware University Museums, and is a regular contributor to Raw Vision magazine. She previously worked at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, where she coordinated the critically acclaimed exhibition “Great and Mighty Things”: Outsider Art from the Jill and Sheldon Bonovitz Collection, and served as Executive Director of the Foundation for Self-Taught Artists, in Philadelphia.
Kristin Hjellegjerde opened her gallery in south west London in June 2012 following her move from New York. The gallery showcases cutting-edge contemporary art from emerging and established international artists, with the central concern to create an intimate space in which artists can present a coherent body of work within a focused environment.
Drawing on her own international background, Kristin Hjellegjerde seeks to discover and develop new talents by creating a platform through which they can be introduced to local and international audiences and by encouraging artistic exchange. Kristin Hjellegjerde also acts as an art advisor for both emerging private and corporate collectors.
Kristin Hjellegjerde has been named Independent Gallery of the Year 2014 by the Londonist.
Irene de Craen is currently artistic director at Hotel Maria Kapel in Hoorn, lecturer of contemporary art theory at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy, and freelance editor and writer. She received a BA from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in The Hague and a BA and MA (cum laude) Art History, Recent Era, from the University of Amsterdam. She has contributed to national and international magazines and websites among others Metropolis M, and Frieze, and has been a contributing author and editor for Mister Motley and Tubelight. In 2011 and 2012 she was a curator at FATFORM in Amsterdam Southeast. Personal interests and objects of study include artist's initiatives, visual culture, anthropology, epistemology, the archive, art from pre-history, fetishism and magic. In addition, she watches too much television and really likes cats.

Round 2 of the Showcase is open for submissions from 3/23/15 - 4/24/15
If your work is selected, you become a Showcase Winner and enter Premium Placement ($20). This advances you in the ArtSlant Prize competition to the Juried Round where your work receives a ton of exposure and is reviewed by our panel of expert jurors.
A rotating panel of leading gallerists and art professionals reviews the Showcase Winners and select one artist to advance from each of the following categories: painting, photography, mixed-media, abstract, sculpture, drawing, new-media, installation, and student. Juried winners have the option to sell their work through ArtSlant on Amazon.com

Four Juried Winners are selected for the ArtSlant Prize each Fall. Winners receive cash prizes and get their work exhibited in Miami during Art Basel Miami Beach.
