Paris-born artist Lilianne Milgrom brings Paris to the Washington, D.C.-area this summer with a new series of contemporary portraits, “Summer in Paris, Portrait Paintings by Lilianne Milgrom.” The exhibit opens July 3 at Crossroads Gallery at Goodwin House Bailey’s Crossroads and closes Aug. 21.
While acknowledging the legacy of portraiture, Milgrom’s new series establishes the present moment. Each painting is an invitation to enter a private world. Observers are tempted to linger, pondering the nature of the sitters and their state of mind. Milgrom’s work has a realistic style that still allows viewers to feel the presence of the artist’s hand.
Programming for this exhibition includes an artist talk and reception on Saturday, July 13, from 6:45 – 8:15 p.m. Accordionist Nancy Leonard will play lively French music and Milgrom will speak at 7:15 p.m.
