Damir Gajski (b. 1973, Metković)
It was only after I finished school, that I started to learn painting with a goal to really understand what I'm doing. I found my starting point in subject matter and trying to understand it. I’ve devoted 10 years to organic abstract painting.
After 10 years of painting, I felt a transitional moment and decided to take the bull by the horns, and grapple with shapes and forms, and now I use all my knowledge in dealing with abstraction and subject matter. Today, for me, this subject matter which is painting, is not an abstract concept but a collection of accurately known and specific elements. Painting is complex, pervasive but I describe it as a set of elements, as unity and multiplicity.
My approach is metaphysical, so I add an element of existence of non subject matter. Awareness and consciousness of myself as a being, a man, are inseparable from my profession of what I do.
Damir Gajski is offering a wide variety of fine art prints for sale in the ArtSlant Salesroom (here).
