The Man in the City Public Art Workshops were developed to teach children about community. The emphasis is on goal setting, public art, and the difference that an individual can make in their community. These workshops focus on the process of setting and achieving goals through the planning, creation and exhibition of student art. As a result of the art workshop, sculptures will be created by the students and displayed throughout the City of Detroit. This idea of creating a work of art from concept to finished product is a transferable skill that can apply to every aspect of a child's life, regardless if they ever work in the arts. The Man in the City Public Art Workshops provide art education in the City of Detroit and an opportunity for others to support their community through sponsorship of a child.
