I've never seen an exhibit at the Textile Center that I didn't like. But, this exhibit was particularly impressive. The variety of techniques used to create fabulous wearable and unwearable fiber art engaged an unusual amount of contemporary technology. I enjoyed Jackie and Uosis complex design techniques that use photography, Adobe Photoshop layers and an industrial size ink-jet printer to print design on fabric. The results are simple forms with sophisticated, interesting surface design printed on the inside and outside of the garment.
The white gowns embellished with printed text from self help blogs was fascintating. All of the pieces in the exhibit used multiple traditional and innovative techniques and materials in concert. The show was a feast of interplay of traditional and contemporary technology.
