What Mao Suits Now

        Sui Jianguo’s recent show at Issue Projects presents both new and old works. The courtyard bears one of his ”Made in China” colossal red dinosaurs, and an iconic giant Mao suit, for which he has become quite famous. One speaks to the infamous cheap and shoddy exports of China; the other to the overwhelming influence of Mao on Chinese life. The main room of the exhibit space has a colossal steel ball, measuring nearly 20 feet in height.
