“Translucide--Dual Exhibition of French Contemporary Artists Marc Desgrandchamps & Ru Xiaofan” is going to be held at Building No.3 of Today Art Museum from December 18, 2009 to January 10, 2010(Organizer: Today Art Museum, Co-Organizer: Dialogue Space), the important representational/post-modern artist Marc Desgrandchamps from France, and the wellknown Chinese artist living in France-Ru Xiaofan are going to bring us a wonderful show of French contemporary art at the end of the year. This is also the first joint exhibition they make together in China.

As one of the most important painters in France, Marc Desgrandchamps is popular in both Europe and United-States. The Pombidu Center of the National Modern Art Museum of France and other important museums in Europe have all shown and collected his artworks. He speaks a unique language in painting which describes the extreme movement and slience, false and true, the figures, animals, landscapes and reality on his canvas are inflicted with a constant movement in an instant stillness. Marc has prepared a series of oil paintings and gouache works for this exhibition, which are remarkable for his unique art language, and have attracked the attention of some world level art organizations and collectors since the day they were created.?Among the Chinese contemporary artists in France, Ru Xiaofan is one of the few who are well accepted by the French art critic world, he was selected by the French dictionary La Rousse for its contemporary art part, together with Huang Yongping, Yan Peiming, Wang Du and so on. He is considered one of the representative artists of Post-Modern Pop Art by French art critics.

Besides the newest oil paintings he brings to this exhibition, he is also going to show twelve beautiful and special sculptures. What’s to mention is the figures of his sculptures were chosen several times by the international brands and he was invited to make the comercial products of limitied collection with them, then had these objects sold in the luxury market of Europe and the States, where his artworks are highly appreciated, he won the big prize of the exhibition “Art collection of Fondation Michelen.”(1999)?The international culture and art exchange are steadily on the increase, how could we create the opportunity for the viewers to see through the window of this exchange, and get to know the artworks which could truly represent the other country’s culture, the exhibition “Translucide” gives its own answer.
