Description

Life in the high desert of Tuscarora, NV for a decade gave me access to unsurpassed views of the night sky. The "Constellations" series suggests the primal quality of staring into a starry sky. We, today have a connection to the ancient people who have seen this very same view that appears to be eternal and unchanging.  "Constellations" are fossil images of the night sky. The view of the stars we see now is from decades, centuries and millennia ago, reaching our perception like a fossil from the past.  I have created these images of materials that are grounded in the earth but depict space, that are embedded as in an excavation.

When we encounter something very large in nature, it gives some perspective on our insignificance. "Constellations" undertakes to nail down the ephemera of our perceptions and provide a connection to the greater world and people of the past.
